Overview: Amazigh are the indigenous ethnic group of North Africa west of the Nile Valley. The Amazigh-Saharan people cluster encompasses Amazigh people groups scattered across the Saharan desert in Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. Traditionally, the term "Berber" has been used by outsiders to refer to the Amazigh, but the term "Berber" is inherently discriminatory and the endonym "Amazigh" is preferred.
